True in every walk of life. Particularly the political but...since the dawn of time punishment has been used more or less successfully to deter, well, crimes. Now justice is a dim light in a far away galaxy, it’s threat watered down and it doesn’t make much of an impact on impending or repeat situations. Criminals don’t fear punishment, since modern myriad laws and exceptions make true punishment, even mere accountability only a possibility. As ‘enlightened humans’ we’ve taken the teeth out of the political and criminal justice system and hastened our societal demise.
