Today’s very strong and very powerful jobs report took many people by surprise.
“It’s rare for any jobs numbers to be stunning, but these were,” wrote Neil Irwin and Emily Peck for Axios.
It wasn’t just that nonfarm payrolls surged by 467,000 in January. As CNBC reported, “massive revisions sent previous months considerably higher.”
As The White House summed things up on Twitter:
467K jobs created in January
6.6M jobs created during @POTUS’s first year in office
In the last year, we have also seen the largest drop in the unemployment rate on record & the strongest economic growth in 40 years
With #BidenBoom trending on Twitter, one would think that patriots everywhere would be celebrating the YUGE economic recovery America is enjoying under President Joe Biden.
At Fox News, however, the mood was different. The giddiness they exuded today came before the jobs report was announced.
Fox News’ anchors gleefully embraced the idea that a projected gain of 150,000 jobs would be missed badly, embracing “whisper numbers” that indicated a possible LOSS of 300,000+ jobs (see video at top). “It could be the worst in years,” they said. “How is the White House going to put a happy face on that?” they said. “It could be a morning of pain,” they said.
Instead, their plans to stymie the Biden Boom were once again thwarted. And they were forced to admit the truth that the numbers revealed: After the stupidity, corruption, recklessness and economic mismanagement of the Trump years, Biden continues to help drive the US economy forward. Not only has he done more in one year than many people thought possible. We’ve already reached the point where Republicans are trying to take credit for the economic impact of the Biden policies they voted against and claimed would destroy us.
If the economy looks good now. It could get even better in the months ahead. As Axios concluded: “This is an incredibly strong labor market that is poised to strengthen further as Omicron fades.”
Thanks, President Biden!
