I thought I would’ve left Twitter before you, but I’ve been quietly quitting Twitter for the past month and a half. You’ve inspired me to make a clean break. I’ll give myself till the end of the week, what with all the shadowbanning, there’s no real reason to stay.

I left Twitter after Musk took over. I just can’t tolerate the hate, any longer. Plus, why should I help him make money via advertising? Not gonna do it & don’t miss it a bit. I did join Post.news as an alternative.

With apologies to George Lakoff, Don't Think of an Elephant - think of a Mastodon. The other way megalomaniacs win is by continuing to control the conversation. Just stop talking about him, and TFG, etc. Relegate them to be the NPC they are absolutely sure they aren't. Mastodon and Post aren't anti-bird, they're stand alone. They are not defined by what they're not, but by what they are, and that's a great lesson in how we should view ourselves as well.

Of course I’m not a journalist, don’t make my living on SM-just an interested observer and ‘word freak’ (both my parents were writers), if it helps anyone, I was a multi-times-per-day user and yes, sometime doomscroller. I had a problem-easier to tame than I thought tho. I deactivated. For 2 and a half weeks. Cold turkey (thanks to Substack’s writers, WTFJHT and ImproveTheNews for that btw). Then reactivated and moved the app to screen 2 on my phone. (I should add I only use SM on my phone or pad, never from a computer.) Now finding I hit Twitter maybe once per day now. It’s importance in my life has fallen in parallel to it’s fall from grace. And that is, in essence, what we’re seeing with Musk’s Twitter. If this helps anyone, my job here is done. 😉 Thanks to you all for your perseverance. And Richard-your sense of humor..still muahhh (chef kiss!)

Oh boy. I did a two week unplug during a holiday in Italy this year. The Twitter divorce didn’t last long. Maybe time for another attempt! Happy New Year Richard!

Thanks, Bonnie! I will limit my scrolling as much as possible, too... any attention given helps Elon sell more ads... Happy New Year to you!

It would be great to see you over on Mastodon! It's different but a much needed change from the 'twit's world.
