I see that Florida, where I live, isn’t in the top five states for deaths-per-capita from the COVID pandemic. I suggest that is because you cannot trust the numbers reported by Florida. A report in June of this year by the FDOH OIG found the case & death data from COVID-19 was inaccurate to some extent. There followed several paragraphs detailing the reporting problems, & inconsistencies & inaccuracies. The audit only covered part of the year 2020. I believe that the reporting is done on a weekly basis at this time, & possibly only counts Florida residents. It is to DeSantis’s benefit to downplay the toll that COVID has played in our state.
Jean -- even with DeSantis' attempts to conceal data, his failure with Covid is apparent even in the published numbers. Preventable deaths have skyrocketed in the age of free vaccines... Florida's death toll is now many thousands higher than New York's and the death rate in Florida is more than 50% higher than in Calfornia.

Something not mentioned enough in mass media! His mishandling of a killer virus, which I consider closer to genocide due to his neglect, is never seen in articles or discussed in TV coverage among all his other crimes & lies of the day now. His abuse of CDC scientists/doctors, the WHO, and his vapid son-in-law’s empty machinations of PPE to appease foreign interests are among the worst crimes committed by his admin even if they don’t get the press they deserve.
And to our shame, trump will never adequately pay for his crimes against the American people. In addition to the death toll from the pandemic, the greatest damage trump has done is to confidence in the integrity of our election systems, trust in our institutions, government and traditions, and to the core of our democratic republic. He has unleashed a torrent of hate of so many groups that almost no one is safe from harassment or physical attack.
He continues his life of unearned luxury that his pathetic supporters can only imagine and never afford. (They are just the kind of people who would be turned away from any of his properties and could never afford one meal of the style he consumes daily.) If trump is ever locked up (either a prison or a mental institution) he will be incommunicado for the most part, and perhaps we can begin to heal.
